Uproar, Hubbub, Brouhaha, Threat


Uproar. N : a lot of noise or angry progest about something.

  • Be in (an) uproar

  • The house was in an uproar, with babies craing and people shouting.

Hubbub. N : a mixture of loud noises, especially the noise of a lot of people talking at the same time. / a situation in which there is a lot activity, excitement, or argument.

  • I could hardly hear myself speak above all the hubbub in the bar.

Brouhaha (BROO Hah hah) n. an uproar; hubbub

  • What began as a quiet party, suddenly turned into a brouhaha.

  • A brouhaha started in the government offices when a threatening e-mail was received.

Threat. N : a statement in which you tell someone that you will cause them harm or trouble if they do not do what you want.
